Silver Jubilee: AT&S has operated a production site in India for 25 years

At the end of the nineties, AT&S took over an electronics plant with 380 employees in Nanjangud. Today, this is a major production site for high-end printed circuit boards with 1100 employees. The facility serves global supply chains in the automotive, industry and infrastructure sectors.
Leoben, April 3, 2025 –Towards the end of the last millennium, the Asian market promised enormous potential. AT&S therefore made its first contacts with India in the mid-1990s. In 1998, the time had come: AT&S signed the contracts for the takeover of the Indal electronics plant with 380 employees, which was located in Nanjangud near Mysore in the greater Bangalore area. 25 years ago AT&S started production there.
The Austrian investment in the then small PCB plant has grown into a world-class production facility for high-end PCBs serving global supply chains. Yesterday, AT&S India celebrated this “Silver Jubilee” with 1100 employees, their families and high-ranking representatives.
AT&S India, a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&S AG, was also the driving force behind the rise of Mysore as the core of a new electronics manufacturing cluster. The emergence of Austrian technologies with global operations in PCB manufacturing 25 years ago has massively strengthened the position of this area as a key destination for follow-on investments in electronics manufacturing.
Peter Schneider, Spokesman of the Board at AT&S and EVP of the Electronics Solutions Business Unit, said on Wednesday evening in his speech on the occasion of the anniversary: “AT&S India today supports the global electronics trends in the automotive, industrial and infrastructure sectors and is India’s first manufacturer of HFI and HDI printed circuit boards. This success has only been possible due to the hard work and loyalty of our AT&S employees. Their commitment has made us strong – not only over the past 25 years, but in all the challenges we have faced.” And Schneider added: “AT&S got involved in Nanjangud when hardly any multinational electronics manufacturing company was willing to invest its money in India. AT&S wrote a success story back then and will continue to do so in the future. Together with our employees, we will create and share value and also fulfill our responsibility towards our neighboring communities, who have been our friendly hosts here in Nanjangud for 25 years.”
In these 25 years, AT&S India has built numerous new classrooms, equipped them with the necessary educational facilities, provided access to clean drinking water and sanitation and has shown solidarity with the local population in times of crisis, be it seasonal floods or during the Corona pandemic. AT&S’s support programs in India have positively touched thousands of people’s lives over the past 25 years.
