The AT&S apprentice initiative is bearing fruit: Twelve apprentices successfully completed their education and trainings. Outstanding achievements highlight the high quality of vocational training at the technology company. At the Leoben-Hinterberg and Fehring sites, apprentices are now embarking on their professional futures well prepared.

Leoben, Fehring, April 29, 2026 – The Austrian high-tech company AT&S is a global player in the world of microelectronics. Driven in particular by the boom in applications related to artificial intelligence (AI), IC substrates and high-tech printed circuit boards from AT&S are currently in strong demand. Being at the cutting edge, maintaining the highest quality and industry standards, and operating in a workplace shaped by constant innovation – these factors also make AT&S a top employer for young people, offering career opportunities across three continents.

Starting point: apprenticeships in Leoben and Fehring

An apprenticeship at AT&S stands for top-tier training at an international level. Apprentices gain insight into the key technologies of our time, work with state-of-the-art equipment, learn innovative processes, and are actively integrated into daily operations. At the AT&S site in Leoben, it is clear how crucial this solid, future-oriented training is. Each year, 20 apprenticeship positions are filled in technical and scientific fields – including process engineering, electrical engineering, and laboratory technology. This year, AT&S is training a total of 57 apprentices in Leoben, six of them were recently honored at an internal ceremony.

At the Fehring site, six apprentices recently successfully completed their training, too. The focus here is on laboratory technology and maintenance, complemented by specializations such as wastewater technology and electrical engineering. Six apprenticeship positions are available each year. Currently, a total of 15 apprentices are being trained in Fehring.

AT&S training with distinction

All AT&S graduates impressed with strong performances – several of them completed their training with distinction. This reflects not only their personal commitment, but also the high quality of training and intensive support throughout their apprenticeship. Eduard Lackner, HR Manager Austria, recognizes these achievements: “Many thanks to our trainers and the entire team behind our successful apprentices for their knowledge and patience. Our apprentices can look back on their training years with pride and look forward to many exciting years in their careers. AT&S products are always at the cutting edge and offer young people an exciting working environment where they can continue to grow.”

Barbara Decker-Schlögl, Plant Director of AT&S in Leoben, emphasizes the importance of curiosity and willingness to learn: “The world is moving very fast right now, with a great deal of innovation. That’s why it’s important to stay curious, keep learning, and continue building knowledge. Our apprentices are our future.”
